Music Academy
Launched on 17 September 2022, the LEH Foshan Music Academy is open to all students at LEH Foshan as well as students outside of the school.
We are delighted to announce that following the success of Term 1 and Term 2, LEHF Music Academy will continue offering superior music and instrumental lessons, training and exam revision sessions every Saturday morning in Term 3.
LEHF Music Academy will continue to provide students with a well-rounded education in music composition, fostering their musical potential and inspiring them to become even more exceptional.
Our Philosophy
The LEH Foshan Music Academy’s philosophy is to make learning music fun whilst gaining the confidence, skills, techniques, and discipline required to become a musician. We teach music for graded exams following the ABRSM or Trinity College London examination boards or just as a hobby! In order to maintain a steady progress, reports are provided at the end of term and at the end of the year. This gives an overview of achievements, development, and future targets.
Our Lessons
Instrumental Lessons: Piano, Violin, Cello, Clarinet, Oboe, Guitar (classical, acoustic, electric, and bass), Drum Kit, Singing and Music Theory, following the ABRSM grade syllabus. Plus traditional Chinese instruments, including the Guzheng and Pippa

Meet the Director
Mr David Hobourn
- Director of Music, LEH Foshan
- Director, LEH Foshan Music Academy
Mr David Hobourn joins LEH International School Foshan as the Director of Music, following a career in Music education that started in 1996. He is a Graduate of Trinity College of Music as well as Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. Mr Hobourn held Organist and Choir Direction posts in the cathedrals of Canterbury and Bristol (UK) and Dunedin (New Zealand). During these early days, he was involved in the day to day running of a cathedral choir, which included live BBC broadcasts, playing and directing in front of members of the Royal Family, European choir tours, and giving organ recitals in cathedrals in the UK and other countries in Europe and beyond.
Since 2001, he has taught in schools in France, Thailand and the UK. For the past twenty-three years, he has also worked as a music examiner, Classical, Jazz and Rock & Pop, for Trinity College London. This work, along with his work as an adjudicator, has taken him to many countries around the world, including the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (2012, 2015).
Mr Hobourn is very impressed by the high level of work ethos shown by young Chinese musicians. He is excited about what can be achieved in the coming years at the LEH Foshan Music Academy.
