LEH International School Foshan was delighted to welcome the British Consul-General Guangzhou, Mr Matt Moody, Head of K12 Education, Ms Sharon Qu, and Senior Trade and Investment Officer, Ms Helen Tan to the school on May 5th, 2023. Mrs Jane Arden

Headteacher at LEH Foshan

Our students were very excited to share their school with Mr Moody. As a community we appreciate the time given to us by our Consul. He is a great supporter of the school’s ethos and values and him seeing LEH Foshan in action allows us to showcase just how fantastic our students and teachers are. I hope it will not be too long before Mr Moody comes again.

During their visit, Mr Moody was given a comprehensive tour of the school, led by our Headteacher, Mrs Arden. They had the opportunity to visit several classrooms to observe lessons. The state-of-the-art facilities, innovative teaching and learning engagement at LEH Foshan left a deep impression on our visitors.

Later in the day, Mr Moody was invited to speak at the school assembly as a special guest. He gave a captivating speech about his role as the British Consul General and his work experience.
The students were thrilled to have the opportunity to ask Mr Moody questions, including some interesting ones from our young Prep students, which put the whole theatre into laughter.

After the assembly, Mr Moody had an informal meeting with the school's Senior Leadership Team to learn more in detail about LEH Foshan and our international community. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the opportunities and challenges British schools are facing in China and the recovery of the education sector post-Covid. The discussions were productive and informative, and the school is excited about the possibilities for collaboration in the future.

To conclude the visit, Mr Moody participated in an interview with our students, where he was asked many interesting questions. When asked what he would do if he weren't the British Consul-General, Mr Moody said he would love to be a teacher here at LEH Foshan because of the fantastic facilities!
