At LEH International School Foshan, we believe every student is capable of extraordinary achievements. Our one-year intensive Pre-A Level Programme (PAL) is crafted to unlock this potential, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in the demanding A Level curriculum and future studies.

Our PAL and Sixth Form Coordinator oversees the overall management of the PAL Programme. She acts as a key point of contact for students and families, delivering comprehensive academic guidance, pastoral care and professional advice throughout the learning journey.
Mrs Van-Heerden
PAL and Sixth Form Coordinator
Over the past academic year, the PAL programme has continued to provide a supportive and purposeful bridge into Sixth Form. It has been encouraging to see how students have grown in confidence, independence, and their ability to manage the increased demands of this transition year. Throughout the programme, students have developed key skills such as organisation, effective study habits, and resilience, while also becoming more reflective and proactive in their learning. There has been a clear sense of progression across the year, with many students demonstrating greater maturity and readiness as they prepare for Sixth Form. These reflections highlight the strength of the PAL programme in helping students not only succeed academically, but also develop the personal skills needed for long-term success.
Target Students & Programme Highlights
Tailored for students aged 15 and above who have not completed the two-year IGCSE curriculum, PAL focuses on improving English proficiency and building solid academic foundations for A Level courses. As a highly effective and flexible transition programme, it helps students who are new to the British education system adapt smoothly to A Level studies, removing learning barriers and paving the way for long-term academic success.

Beyond strengthening English proficiency and building solid academic foundations, PAL offers unique advantages to support students’ growth:
-
Academic Readiness: A Level taster lessons, study skills training, cross-curricular project-based assessment and curated reading lists to boost subject knowledge and learning strategies.
-
Holistic Development: Peer mentoring, service projects, and public speaking workshops to build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.
-
IGCSE qualifications in Maths and Mandarin will be pursued by PAL students, to gain accreditation for their future while also experiencing an introduction to the British qualification system in subjects in which they will have strong chances of success.
-
University Preparation: Early UCAS guidance, scholarship application support, and insights from senior students and Sixth Form tutors.
-
Recognition & Opportunities: Receive a completion certificate, progress reports, and eligibility for Year 12 Key Stage 5 scholarships.

Outstanding Achievements of our PAL Students
Our PAL Programme has nurtured batches of outstanding students who have achieved remarkable progress and outstanding admission results. As an outstanding graduate of the Class of 2025, Ye completed the PAL programme, which helped him adapt to the British curriculum, polish his English skills and build solid learning foundations for A Level studies. Drawing on what he gained from PAL, Ye focused on art and design subjects. He was ultimately admitted to the University of the Arts London (UAL), one of the world’s top art and design institutions.
A group of excellent PAL students from the Class of 2026 have also delivered impressive outcomes across academics, arts and all-round development. Simon and Oscar excel in science subjects and have gained multiple offers from prestigious universities in the UK and Hong Kong. Billy overcame difficulties in English and mathematics with targeted guidance during PAL, and finally received offers from five top UK universities. Osmanthus made great progress in English and scientific learning, winning seven offers from leading universities in the UK and the US and aiming for clinical medicine. Vincent stood out in music, attaining professional music qualifications and gaining admission to top UK conservatoires for jazz drumming. All of them have fully demonstrated the comprehensive strength cultivated through the PAL programme.
Every student at LEH Foshan holds boundless potential. With inspiring courses, professional teachers and student-centred education, our Pre-A Level Programme supports students from all academic backgrounds to grow and chase their aspirations.
