The Holles Gallery hosted the LEH Foshan’s much-anticipated End-of-Year Art & Design Exhibition earlier in June, showcasing hundreds of original student artworks spanning drawing, printmaking, mixed-media, 3D installations, ceramics, architectural models and functional design pieces. Every creation reflects our students’ passion, ingenuity and craftsmanship, perfectly embodying our school’s 8C values.
We interviewed Mrs Okosi, Head of Creative Arts, and Mr McMahon, Head of Design & Technology and Computer Science, to explore the exhibition and our students’ creative journeys.
The Art Exhibition
This exhibition stands as a key milestone, fully documenting students’ artistic progress over the academic year. A standout feature of the exhibition is the consistent commitment demonstrated by all students throughout creation. Portfolios completed by IGCSE and A Level seniors are particularly remarkable. Rather than simple technical imitation, these works deliver unique personal perspectives and independent artistic thinking.

Key Stage 3: Lessons centre on diverse material practice. Large-format works, clay modelling and sketching help students build solid foundational skills and broaden creative boundaries;

Year 10 & PAL: Teaching focuses on encouraging bold creative experimentation, guiding students to break conventional creative frameworks;

IGCSE & A Level: Thematic in-depth creation is adopted. Students research master artists to develop complete and mature personal artistic styles.
Drawing, painting, printmaking and 3D construction are core Key Stage 3 modules. Exposure to a wide range of media helps students identify their strengths, laying a solid foundation for portfolio preparation at IGCSE and A Level stages.

This exhibition is not possible without commitment, the students have demonstrated huge commitment in their lessons and pushed their creativity to make exciting, confident, and meaningful responses. Throughout this year we have seen the students develop and refine their skills, reflecting on feedback and progress to improve their work and develop their craftmanship.
The Design & Technology Zone
The Design & Technology (DT) Zone merges aesthetics, engineering and real-world problem-solving, featuring architectural layouts, atmospheric light installations, handcrafted wooden furniture and functional prototypes. Every handmade piece showcases students’ ingenuity and perseverance.
This year's DT exhibition features a rich variety of exhibits and outstanding overall quality, with the remarkable leap in students' independent thinking and hands-on practical skills being particularly impressive. Learners created grand stadium and museum models, atmospheric light art, and even custom steam-bending equipment to craft perfect rocking chair curves, their dedication to fine craftsmanship is truly inspiring.

Our students have developed mature design mindsets. They capture textures and patterns from daily life, draw inspiration from professional designers without direct imitation, and use reference points to develop fully original concepts, resulting in works with clear individual styles.
Hosting the End-of-Year Art and Design Exhibition is our way of celebrating the outstanding talent and tremendous progress our students have made this year. Their rich array of works, ranging from intricate design pieces to vivid, expressive artworks, fully embodies their consistent dedication and original creativity. We hold great anticipation for the artistic successes and new breakthroughs they will continue to achieve as part of the LEH Foshan community.
