HK Secretary for Education Visited LEH London

The Secretary for Education of Hong Kong, Dr Choi Yuk-lin, visited our sister school, LEH London in May 2023. She toured the campus facilities and observed HK students attending classes and participating in activities. LEH London is a popular the destination amongst HK students and one of the oldest schools in the UK. Dr Choi Yuk-lin also met the management, teachers, and students to understand more about more about the school mission, ethos, and educational offerings.

Choi Yuk-lin concludes UK tour - May 12, 2023


Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin concluded her trip in the UK by visiting local schools and meeting local Hong Kong students in London over the past two days.

Ms Choi visited North London Collegiate School and Lady Eleanor Holles School, two long-established girls’ secondary schools today.

She toured the campus facilities and observed students attending classes and participating in activities. She also met the management, teachers and students to understand the schools’ education visions and practical experience.

In the morning of May 11, Ms Choi, accompanied by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the UK Department for Education Diana Barran, explored the secondary school Elms Academy.

While there, she met the academy’s teachers and students to learn about how it supports students whose first language is not English to learn the language and develops students’ life skills according to their interests and abilities at the secondary school stage.

On the same afternoon, Ms Choi met Hong Kong students studying at renowned universities in the UK under the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme to discover more about their school life there.

Later in the day, she visited City & Islington College, a further education college, to exchange views with its representatives, and learn about its Vocational & Professional Education & Training (VPET) courses and pedagogy and how it promotes VPET as an alternate progression pathway.

Ms Choi has concluded her UK visit and will arrive in Beijing tomorrow. During her stay in the capital, she will call at the State Council Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office, local universities and the Chinese Academy of Governance.

She will also attend the joint opening ceremony of the leadership enhancement programme for primary and secondary school principals and the Mainland study tour for newly joined teachers.

Ms Choi will return to Hong Kong on the evening of May 16.
