Pre-A Level, AGE: 15 (YEAR 11)
The Pre-A Level Programme is particularly for students who have not completed the two-year IGCSE programme to help them lay all important foundations ahead of the 2-year A Level Programme courses.
The programme is a one-year course, with intensive English tuition, designed specifically for students aged around 15 who wish to study for A levels but who need another year to be ready for its challenges. It concentrates upon courses in which students can excel in one year. At the same time, it provides comprehensive preparation for all the school’s A level courses. The Pre-A level course improves study skills and develops spoken and written English to a standard which will allow students to move on to A level courses after one year.
The LEH Foshan Pre-A Level curriculum is constructed in a way which allows students to experience areas of academic interest and to find out what they are passionate about.
Optional (3 - 4)
- Physical Education (non-A-Level)
- Careers and University Guidance (non-A-Level)
- Personal Social Health Education also known as PSHE (non-A-Level)
Prior to confirming their selections for entry into the Pre-A Level Programme, which leads into the Advanced Level Programme, students are encouraged to arrange a meeting with their personal tutor and with the individual subject teachers, so that they may discuss their option choices.
The Pre-A Level syllabus builds a bridge to the A Level curriculum. It blends classroom teaching with specialist one-to-one language learning allowing students to develop the academic and social vocabulary required to extend their education and prepare them for studies at the top universities. The underlying focus on developing language requirements is key to preparing students for A Level course.
Students from any educational institution can join the Pre-A Level Programme as the needs of the student are catered for by our specialist team of ELL teachers and specialist subject teachers who have a wealth of experience teaching internationally.
