Key Stage 3, AGES: 11 - 13 (YEAR 7 - 9)
Students aged 11 to 13 (Year 7 – 9) follow the Key Stage 3 Curriculum at LEH Foshan Secondary School. It is an engaging and rigorous curriculum that enables students to develop their own academic interests while providing a broad foundation on which to build.
Beyond the curriculum, there are many opportunities for students to participate in enrichment activities, from sports to music, from art to public speaking events. These aim to promote their physical, mental, cultural and moral development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
All students study English, Mandarin, Mathematics and Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) alongside Humanities (Geography and History) and Technical / Creative Arts (Computer Science, Design and Technology, Art, Drama, Music).
A programme of PSHE (Personal, Health, Social and Economics Education) and Physical Education will ensure students develop an understanding of health and wellbeing alongside their academic studies.
We provide a high-quality Chinese language education to foster students’ curiosity and deepen their knowledge of the culture and society of countries and communities where Chinese is spoken.
Our Spanish programme not only focuses on language acquisition, but also encourage students to stimulate ideas, develop creative expression and expand understanding of the language and Hispanophone culture.
Our mandatory Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme offers 2 hours daily for students to discover and foster their interests and passions with an exciting range of activities on offer and enrich their learning experience.
Boarding at LEH Foshan aims to provide a home away from home, high-quality boarding experience and promote a healthy balanced lifestyle and the development of student’s independence and confidence.
After KS3, students will have the profound knowledge foundation and great flexibility to opt for a more bespoke IGCSE curriculum from Year 10, which remains broad, balanced, engaging and challenging.
During Year 9 (last year of KS3), students will choose which subjects to study at Key Stage 4 (Years 10 to 11). These will be the subjects they will take for IGCSE exams. The school will give students information and guidance about IGCSE choices and encourage them to discuss their portfolio with their teachers, tutors and parents. It is important they choose subjects they find interesting and are competent at. Age 13-14 is very young to be choosing a career path so some balance in IGCSE subjects is advisable.
